Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Closing the Equity & Gender gap by bringing 'Code to the Future' into our district. Providing our kids with access to this will allow them to have the basic skill set our future will require. In addition, we must keep all of the various Arts programs
  • Expand programs and bring new programs through parents, staff & teacher collaboration. Creating partnerships with businesses and the community and branding our district for the future.
  • Maintaining our budget and being fiscally accountable to our community in order to ensure funds are being spent appropriately. In addition, we need to keep transparency with ALL our procedures.

Biografía

Why does 'Experience Matter'?

In 2013 -  Common Core State Standards came out, new program 'SEAL'was brought in with a Grant, Chromebooks Phase 1, in 2014 LCAP came out with LCFF and new State Standards for testing, We expanded our popular AdVenture program, implemented SEAL, Chromebooks phase 2, in 2015 We implemented a new Two-Way Bilingual Immersion Program, Implemented new testing program in district with iReady, continued SEAL implementation at new schools while adding a grade at the others, Did a Master facility plan review, Finalized
Chromebook Technology, added District Wifi capabilities, in 2016 we reached a 3 year agreement with all bargaining units, started Saturday school to recover ADA and have kids not fall behind, created Social Services network and a budget committee, in 2017 we had to go through a school consolidation process and thanks to my followup of community and committee member concerns lead us to review and only close two schools, instead of three. We expanded our preschool program and avoided teacher layoffs. In 2018, so far we have expanded our Before and After School Programs (BASE), I advocated intensely for a Communications Officer or a marketing plan and our new Asst. Superintendent of Ed Instruction started a marketing program and will start expanding our Virtual Realtiy (Independent Study) Program with a continued expansion of AdVenture. We have given our teachers and staff a 15% increase in pay/HW over the past 4 years and in January of 2018 became part of a consortium for housing advocacy for teachers. I am supported by many teachers, staff, parents and administration because I am interested in looking for solutions to support all the wonderful things our teachers, staff and admin do with lower resources. Experience Matters!! Vote to Re-Elect Carolyn Bauer

Filosofía política

I believe we need a true restorative justice program with outside facilitators in order to get to the root issues and keep kids in school learning with a focus on responsibility and respect. To ensure our schools are a safe and healthy learning environment.     I believe we need to improve communication between parents, staff and the district. We are Google certified and Google brings people to our district office IT department. We need to advertise our schools.   I believe that in order to take care of our kids, we need the State and Federal government to fund our public schools at a high enough level to pay for all the areas the Federal and State government mandate responsibility to us.  Special Education Deparments handle a variety of student needs and in so many areas of special high needs that running it costs much more than we get from our government. Funding from our government does not come close to what is needed for these manadated programs therefore, our district is required to cover it from our general fund, causing other students to do more with less. We should not need to choose between groups, the government needs to increase their funding of those programs without further increasing in taxes.   As a Board Trustee, being part of a solution to help kids, all staff, teachers or the administration is rewarding. I believe it is important to be able to do school visits on a regular basis in order to interact with teachers and staff, seeing the results of our decisions. In addition, I belive it is important to take time to listen to teachers and staff with what may be needed at their school in trying to create policies and programs to bring out the best in both students, staff and teachers.     I believe it’s important for women to get involved in civic leadership, whether it’s serving on a board or commission, showing up at a public meeting, or even running for office for the same reason it is important that we need more male teachers in the classrooms and more males at our home and school club meetings. Healthy conflict is a great way to produce new ideas and move outside the box and we need more women in Civic Leadership, just like I said earlier that we need more male teachers – In order to connect us all together as one, we should be able to see that diversity.
