Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Maintain fiscal stability including continued look for cost savings and appropriate economic development opportunities.
  • Promote energy and water sustainability and continued work on our infrastructure.
  • Maintain our quality of life, including retention of our police and fire departments.

Profesión:City Councilmember, Attorney
City Councilmember, City of South Pasadena — Cargo elegido (2013–current)
Senior Deputy General Counsel, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (1991–2008)
Deputy City Attorney, Los Angeles City Attorney's Office (1979–1991)

UC Davis Juris Doctor (1978)
UCLA Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Economics (1975)

As a South Pasadena City Council member I was elected Chair of the SGVCOG Water Policy Comittee for over terms, and am current Chair of the Clean Power Alliance, a consortium of two counties and 29 cities that has been formed to support a number of green energy initiatives, including enhanced provision of renewable energy in significantly greater amounts than anticipated by Southern California Edison Company, at less or equivalent cost.  Among city councilmembers in LA County I am a recognized expert on stormwater issues, which pose a significant financial challenge estimated at $20 billion over the next 20 years.

Prior to my City Council election I worked in the Legal Departments of the Metroplitan Water District of Southern Californa and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, where I worked on government contracts, public works projects and energy matters.  I have put to use for the City’s benefit my experience as a local government lawyer with a broad knowledge of the Brown Act and Public Records Act and several decades of experience working on personal service, procurement and public works contracts. This prior experience has enabled me to know how to get things done, what to be sensitive to, and what to avoid.

Filosofía política

I am particularly alarmed by climate change, and its anticipated serious adverse impacts in southern California.  My priorities include energy sustainabillity, ensuring South Pasadena's fiscal stability, and preservation of its historic character.  I am very pleased to report that we are in the final stages of killing the SR 710 tunnel through our town, I intend to make sure it is finally thwarted.  Meanwhile, we need to continue to work on easing traffic congestion, which should be facilitated through projects that could be paid by funds earmarked for the tunnel.

South Pasadena is a unique and cherished community - maintaining our quality of life has been and remains a priority.  This includes continuing to retain our own police and fire departments while provide such services as cost efficiently as possible.
