Mis 3 prioridades principales

  • Increased Community Involvement.- It is critical that families, administrators, students, and teachers share an equal voice in how we run our schools.
  • Improved Science and Technology Curriculum- It is more important than ever that students graduate with a strong science and technology foundation.
  • Resources and Support- We need to ensure that students from all backgrounds are safe, supported, and able to learn on every campus.

Biografía

I began teaching in 2004 after graduating from San Diego State University. A few years later I earned my Special Education Credential, and taught at some of San Diego County's most underserved schools. Over the past 14 years I have been privileged enough to work with hundreds of families and children. I have seen first hand how important it is to build a strong relationship between home, school, and community. As the mother of two boys and a teacher of many students who will enter the Grossmont Unified Highschool District, I am dedicated to ensuring that our students and staff are well-spported. I am a proud resident of El Cajon, and live here with my husband, who is a former Captain in the U.S. Navy, and our two sons.

Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de The League of Women Voters San Diego (4)

Question 1

What are the pressing problems of this school district, in your opinion, and what experience do you bring to the Board that will help address these problems?

No se proporcionó respuesta.
What is your view of charter schools?
Respuesta de Peggy Elizabeth "Liz" Weaver:
Charter schools were intended to strengthen public school systems by giving innovative and experienced educators a way to dynamically meet the diverse needs of all students and families. Once there was proof of concept for these innovations, they would be incorporated into the entirety of the school system to enhance student learning and the community.   I've always supported that vision.
Should the district curb its school choice initiatives (for students who are not in charter schools), so that more students stay in their neighborhood schools? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Peggy Elizabeth "Liz" Weaver:
I believe that schools should not curb school choice. However, I do believe schools should research and analyze the needs of neighborhood families in order to deliver high-quality education that fits the needs of their communities. Hopefully this will result in neighborhood schools being the first and best choice for families.
Question 4

Are there school discipline strategies or behavioral support programs that you find appealing alternatives to exclusionary or punitive discipline? If so, which ones, and why?

No se proporcionó respuesta.

Creencias poliza

Filosofía política

I believe in progress without politics, and that change starts at home and within our communities. It's easy to feel powerless in the grand scheme, but we all have the ability to make our corner of the world better. Open communication, mutual respect, and collaboration is the best way to achieve our shared goals.
