Preguntas y Respuestas

Preguntas de The League of Women Voters San Diego (4)

Do you support increasing the housing density in the City of Poway? What other options might there be for improving the City's supply of affordable housing?
Respuesta de Brian Edmonston:

I support slow and controlled growth with limited increases in density.  Any increases in density should also be accompanied by increases in amenities such as park, fields, entertainment and recrational faciliites and there is sufficnet parkign and mixed use facilities within walking distance of these developments.

Do you approve of the City's current approach to addressing the problems of homelessness? What specific changes, if any, would you make?
Respuesta de Brian Edmonston:

The city is taking reasonable steps to address the issue of homelessness and I would continue those efforts.

Do you support any specific projects to promote economic activity in the City? Why or why not?
Respuesta de Brian Edmonston:

Making Poway a highly desirable place to live will encourage businesses to come to Poway and that will incease overall economic activity.  Business activity should not be favored ove the needs of residents, but we should make Poway a desireable place to locate businesses and conduct business activity.

Do you believe that the Citizens Law Enforcement Review Board (CLERB) has adequate independence, authority, and resources to provide effective civilian review, if there are allegations of sheriff deputy misconduct in the City of Poway? What changes, if any, do you think should be made to that body?
Respuesta de Brian Edmonston:

Yes, the CLERB has he resources necessary to carry out its assigned function.

Filosofía política

I think Poway is a special place, and we need a Mayor that will work to keep it that way while allowing slow and conrolled growth.  I want to prevent development from proceeding too quickly and without sufficient consideration of the needs of the residents.  A big example of this is the Poway Road Specific Plan, which will allows up to 1148 new units along Poway Road.  I think this plan needs to be modified. We also need to improve our parks, fields and other amenities to stay compeititve with the new communities around us including 4S Ranch and Del Sur.  We need to do this so that we continue to attract young family to come and live in Poway.  We should also use some of city owned lots adjacent to Poway Community Park to increase the size of the park instead of selling them to a developer which is the current plan.  Poway Community Park is already undersized and it will face greater use when new units are introduced onto Poway Road.  We also need active leadship on issues like Stoneridge and landscape management districts (LMDs).
